Youth Workers required URGENTLY in Bradford/Leeds Are you enthusiastic enough to keep up and inspire the youth of today? if so our client is looking to recruit Youth Workers for the Leeds/Bradford area to join their fast moving, innovative team. A minimum of 2 years experience is essential for this role and the successful candidates will hold a minimum of NVQ level2 in Health and Social Care. Duties include: - To develop awareness of the needs of children/young people from the community, contribute to their emotional, psychological and physical needs, and where appropriate enable individuals to understand, accept and change their personal situation. - To develop, maintain and support, individually or in conjunction with others, a wide range of services, on either a group or personalised basis to meet the needs of children/young people and/or their families/carers, particularly from the Asian community using the most appropriate equipment to enable them to articulate their own and other needs and to assist them in responding to these needs appropriately. - To assist with the process of achieving the best possible outcome for the child, families and carers, will establish appropriate links and communication channels with other agencies, Housing, Benefits, Education, Career Guidance, Probation Service, Health Visitors and other professional staff, both inside and outside the Authority, Carers, Foster Carers, prospective adopters and anyone else appropriate to the needs either ordinary or extra-ordinary of a child. - To maintain accurate, up to date and appropriate records, writing such reports as are requested by Management or are necessary to the conduct of the case. - To assist when required as a Primary Worker for a number of children/young people/carers on agreed work programmes, attending planning meetings, case conferences, reviews and Court as necessary to the conduct of the case. - To manage keyworking responsibilities of clients/ learners in partnership with allocated workers of the Service - To prepare clients for employment, work experience placements and learning programmes. - To undertake an assessment of each client in line with departmental guidance. - To provide clients with employability and job search training. - To act as link between the clients and care workers. - To place clients within appropriate opportunities and review progress in line with procedures. - To identify and monitor employment, training, educational and work experience opportunities. - To assist in the development and provision of Employment, Education and Training (EET) strategies and support groups appropriate to the needs of the service. - To advise service users on welfare benefits and rights and to assist them in applications. - To be aware of relevant information and developments in social work with children, young people and families, develop skills essential to supporting children of all ages in their community and attend relevant training sessions, resources permitting. - To assist in the preparation of service plans, the setting of targets and objectives, team goals and the monitoring of outcomes of the service. - To publicise and encourage use of the Department’s resources. - To complete individual records and produce statistical information, producing reports and briefing notes as required. - To implement the Council’s Equal Opportunity Policy
